About Carrick Housing

We are a company owned by Cornwall Council that is charged with managing and maintaining the 3800 council houses in Carrick. We look after about 150 leaseholders on behalf of the Council and manage other garages, shops and land in neighbourhoods with council housing.

The company is owned by the Council and any profits made are spent on improving housing in our district. Follow the links to our management agreement with the Council and our five year business plan. This plans sets out how we will not only get the basics of a housing service right but how we will be an excellent landlord making efficient use of public money and targeting resources in a direction our community needs and supports.
We have set out very clear objectives for ourselves on:

  • Making every home we manage a decent home
  • More rented properties

The decisions we make and the successful way we deliver our business does have an impact on the lives of our customers and the neighbourhoods they live in. We believe we are not only providing a high quality housing service but we are also changing both our neighbourhoods and our homes and making life just a little better.

We only started in 2004 but we have already met some big challenges. £14m has already been spent on improving homes and next year we will spend the final £8m. This work on making our homes decent has transformed not only the properties but the lives of the people who live in them.

We are a company, limited by guarantee and which Cornwall Council wholly owns.
In 2002 Carrick District Council was successful in a bid to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to set up an arms length company and secure additional resources.
